I’ve wanted to feature one of FCC’s AOR1 416 builds, since I saw the teaser shots of the receivers going through the Duracote process. Inspired by Zero Dark Thirty, I believe the finish is based on this famous blaster:

From what I can see from the original pic and the pics Jacob sent to me – adjusting for different light conditions – I think FCC got the AOR1 finish pretty much spot on. I’ve since been informed by Francis of FCC that the colour scheme was purposely lightened for the replica. This is because it will darken with use, as is the nature of Duracote.

Now, wanting to feature one of these blasters and actually being able to do so are two very different things. I’ve been informed that only fourteen were made. As such, I’m extremely grateful to Jacob for allowing me to feature his blaster – to which he’s added a few personal touches.

I think the one which purists will immediately recognise is the addition of a flat blade race trigger. Naughty, naughty! Or is it? These triggers are very similar to Geissele ones, which were originally commissioned for a SOCOM component customer.

Like the No Easy Day blaster, Jacob has gone with an AAC can, which he’s finished to look burnt:

The RVG is colour matched and the Spectre and PEQ are left plain – for that ‘dropped in’ look. Jacob mentioned he’s soon to replace this optic with an EXPS.

The AOR1 blends nicely with Jacob’s skirmish environment:

A bit of snakeskin, added to the mix:

Correctly shaped FCC TD grip:

Aside from the EXPS, Jacob has an Orga inner barrel on the way to him and he’s replaced the OEM motor with a Tac’d powerhouse. Long may that run.

Many thanks to Jacob (and Mo, for putting me in touch).
