This is another Tackleberry built and modded masterpiece, but the vision is all Andy’s. This blaster represents an increment forward from his team mate’s Block I, which I featured recently. The most important thing, though, is this is Mil Done Right.
One of the things I love about this build is the way in which Andy has judiciously chosen to maximise value – spending money on the Gucci parts which matter most. An example of this is the receiver set. Andy has gone gold standard with his lower, a CNC item from Prime. With this he gets authentic trades, a photorealistic finish and a different level of robustness over the OEM lower; plus, he gets rid of the Systema logo, ruinous to any serious impression. Conversely, he has chosen to keep the OEM upper. Why fix something that’s not broken? The synergy here is the contrast in finish between upper and lower parts. This evokes the suggestion that the upper is a service part, which has been replaced – hence the slight contrast.
It’s all about detail and you can see the Daniel Defense logo on the RS gas block in the pic at the head of this piece. Another nice touch is the LMT stock and buffer – not easy to source:
I have the LMT buffer on my SOF-Inspired KISS build and I’m pretty sure it inspired the OEM silver buffer. Whereas most RS buffers are black, the LMT buffer is a metallic blue-grey. A quite distinctive finish which tarnishes easily (like Prime receiver sets) and only adds to the hard-use vibe.
As for the finishing touches, armoury numbers are Posca’d. Posca paint wears well with a nice flat finish, but removes OK with acetone.
