The Outdoor Research Swift Cap in Multicam was recommended to me by a very good friend who knows his gear.

I purchased mine from Trekkit. Imagine that – an outdoor retailer in Hereford, selling Multicam Outdoor Research caps…

The Swift Cap follows a design I’ve not seen before. It’s a two layer composition, with a UPF 50+ crown composed of a slightly stretchy, water resistant softshell material (98% nylon, 2% lycra); separated from a full head mesh liner (100% polyester).

The coarse side mesh enhances mechanical ventilation, whereas the fine central mesh aids moisture management.

The brim is nicely shaped and is lined with a non-reflective, tonal underside. Crucially the peak doesn’t dig in at the temples. There’s also a wicking sweat band.

The Swift Cap is one size fits all and it’s a great fit on my 58cm noggin. However, there’s plenty of adjustment each way. That’s handled via a tonal ribbon and QR buckle at the rear.

The cap features tonal branding, with an embroidered logo up front and a fabric label at the back of the head.

This is a very cooling, well designed cap, which I’m looking forward to putting into rotation for summer.

In fact, I really wish I had this when I was out in the woods last Sunday.
