They could have made a top class AK, but oh no…

Today I got my hands on Systema’s Recoil Model PDF and I don’t think I’ll be investing in one any time soon.
While the recoil system itself looks very cool indeed – paradigm shiftingly cool – I don’t think this platform will trouble the NGRS for usability, unless changes are made to battery capacity and placement.
Suffice to say, the battery is located in the magazine and each battery is only good for 150 rounds.
You’ll have to excuse my lack of vision, but that really isn’t good enough.
Sure, the battery’s capacity can probably be improved upon. It’s more that battery mags are way too much of a compromise for use with a full size RIF.
What’s next? Systema battery slings and PEQ battery boxes? Is it 2005 again?
To be honest, about the biggest compromise I was expecting was having to put up with a Crane stock 🙂
More development is required, I think; preferably based on a clear understanding of user requirements.
The latter isn’t something Systema is known for, so let’s hope someone else steps up and saves this version of the platform from spectacular fail.
The rest of the blog contains screenshots from the PDF, but you can also view it here:
