I had a conversation similar to this, with a mate, recently:
- Him: “You must make a few quid off the blog’s advertising revenue?”
- Me: “Er, no I don’t. What adverts?”
- Him: “The completely unrelated adverts at the foot of each blog. Here’s a screenshot…”
- Me: “Oh, fucking great. Those don’t show on my logged-in view of the blog and I really don’t want them there.”
So, it turns out that if I upgrade my WordPress package I can stop adverts appearing on my pages (which, incidentally, I don’t profit from).
So that’s what I’ve done. I’ll be paying WordPress annually, to keep the blog ad free.
