My RS KAC URX 3.1 13.5″ is going to a good home tomorrow. Fellow Systema PTW Forum mod, Blackwolf, has taken it off my hands, so I’m sending it to Portugal first thing. I’ll be sad to see it go, but it’s going to a better place where it will get some hard use. Exactly what it was designed for.
The URX 3.1 is a thing of beauty, particularly the 13.5″ version. I’ve had it since December, but I just didn’t get on with it. Something about the cross section meant it didn’t sit right in the hand and it somehow felt unwieldy in other ways too. I can’t put my finger on it, because with the aluminium barrel nut it was so light. The outer diameter isn’t massive, so it’s no that either. Nor is it front heavy – despite the forward RIS sections.
The last pics I took, used in the sales ad, are below. The finish is a bit like a Prime receiver. I don’t mean the actual anodize used, because clearly the URX’s is mil spec. But it marked like a mofo. I never actually skirmished the rail, just handled the build in the house and set the hop at my local site. However, superficial marks can be seen in the pics in abundance. Nothing that an oily rag won’t cure, I’m sure, but it’s a finish I’ve not seen on RS kit before.
And on a build:
